This is also another great way of spotting birds like the Kingfishers, the bee eaters and so much more.

Birding.

Bird watching is another activity that you can do while in Murchison falls. Murchison falls park has over 450 different bird species and therefore we recommend that you spend atleast 3 days in the park searching for birds. Some of the birds you should expect to see include; the spotted Mourning Thrush, Black-headed Batis , the Vitelline Masked Weaver, Green-winged Ptyilia , the Silver Bird, Bluff-bellied Warbler, there are Blue-napped Mousebird, White-rumped Seed-eater , the Chestnut-crowned Sparrow-weaver, the Black-headed Gonolek, among so many others.

Some of these birds are nocturnal bird species and thus an evening searching will be rewarding. Watch out for birds like the Verreaux’s owls, the Nightjars, the Pennat-winged nightjar commonly seen from March – September.  Birds like  the standard-winged nightjar also commonly seen in November to February. Other birds you should expect to see include; the African Skimmers, White African fish eagle, the long-toed plover, the Gray Crowned cranes, among others.
