Detailed Itinerary
Day 1, Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park
After breakfast, depart Kampala at around 7 am and drive to Lake Mburo National Park, one of the closest wildlife parks to the capital. The journey takes about 3 to 4 hours. On the way, stop at the Uganda Equator crossing for photos and a short break, then continue to the park. Arrive in time for lunch at your lodge and some relaxation. In the afternoon, go for a boat ride on Lake Mburo, where you may see hippos, crocodiles, buffalo, and antelopes along the shoreline. This is one of the best ways to view wildlife up close in the park. Later in the evening, head out for a night game drive with a spotlight in search of nocturnal animals such as leopards, bush babies, and hyenas. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Budget Eagles Nest Lodge, Mid-range Lake Mburo Safari Lodge, or Arcadia Cottages, Luxury Mihingo Lodge.
Day 2, Morning game drive or horseback safari, return to Kampala
Wake up early and go for a morning game drive in the Park, the best time to spot wildlife such as zebras, buffalo, giraffes, impalas, and other antelope species across the savannah. As an alternative to the game drive, you may choose one of the following optional activities, depending on your interest:
- Horseback safari through the park, offering a close and quiet approach to wildlife
- Guided nature walk with a ranger to explore the park on foot
- Cycling safari for a more active wildlife experience
After the activity, return to the lodge for breakfast or an early lunch, then check out and begin the drive back to Kampala. Arrive in the evening, marking the end of your 2-day Lake Mburo safari.
