Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Arrive Kigali Airport. / Drive to Volcanoes National Park Rwanda. 3 hrs

When you arrive at Kigali airport, a guide from AA SAFARIS AND TOURS LTD will be ready to pick you up and drive you to Kigali. Depending on your time of arrival, you will have the most exciting city tour through Kigali the capital of Rwanda. Visit the Kigali genocide memorial, tour the local communities, visit the crafts shops to mention but a few. Carry on to volcanoes national park where you will enjoy your dinner and overnight at:

6 days Uganda Rwanda primate tourDay 2: Gorilla tracking safari in Rwanda. 

Rise up very early in the morning and take a warm cup of coffee. Carrying your tracking gears and packed lunch, move to ORTPN for briefing about your proceeding activity. After an early morning breakfast, you will go gorilla trekking in Parc National des Volcans. Refer to our gorilla trekking guidelines for what to carry and wear. When you get into the forest, you will have a chance of meeting other primates like monkeys playing from the tree branches. There are a variety of birds that whistle from the tree branches. Move passed the lush trees of the forest searching for the gorillas that hide on the slopes of the Virunga Mountains. This is a wonderful experience that you ought to participate in.

You may get to the gorillas earlier, spend an hour with them and return in time for lunch. At times you may need to be a little patient because your meeting the gorillas depends on there movement as they search for food. Spend an hour with them taking there photographs and viewing the little ones as they play from the vines. Return to the lodge for supper and overnight at your booked accommodation.

Day 3: Golden monkey tracking in Volcanoe National park. 

Get up early in the morning, enjoy your hearty breakfast then move to the ORTPN for another briefing from the guide. This concerns your next stimulating activity where you will go for golden monkey tracking in the Virunga Volcanoes Mountains. Golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. It is now believed that the only feasible population of these monkeys is left in the Virunga Volcanoes National park.  A lesser populace may exist in the Nyungwe Forest National Park in Southern Rwanda but this is yet to be confirmed. The golden monkey is a dissimilar species of guenon – Cercopithecus Kandti and is prevalent to the Albertine Rift. Return for dinner and overnight.

Day 4: Drive from Volcanoes Park to Bwindi Forest Park. 

Having taken your breakfast, you will move on through the Katuna Border to Uganda. Drive to Bwindi national park of Uganda and check in at;

Day 5: Gorilla tracking safari in Bwindi. 

Having taken your early morning breakfast, move to the headquarters of the park for briefing from the park ranger.   After, move on to the forest to meet the gentle eyed gorillas. The trek usually takes 2-8 hours depending on the movement of gorillas as they search for food. Spend some time in company of the gorillas, listening to them grumble to each other, and view the huge size of the dominant male the silverback. It is a wonderful sentiment sitting in the dense rainforest eloquent that you are with a few of the leftover mountain gorillas. It’s exciting to know that there are only about 720 only still existing in the entire universe.

In case you track early and you are not tired, you will indulge in a guided walk on the Munyaga River trail or a village walk to visit the orphanage. The Manyaga trail leads to three pleasant lucid waterfalls, and there is a cornucopia of tree ferns, epithytic ferns, orchids and Bwindi’s colorful selection of butterflies. When you carry out this activity, you may also see birds and primates from the forest edge. In case you choose the village walk, you will pass through the community to see how the local people live. Come back to the lodge for dinner and overnight at your selected lodge.

Day 6; Drive to Kigali Rwanda . 4 – 5hours 

Early in the morning, cross the boarder and head to the airport to catch up with your home bound flight at Kigali airport.
