13 Days Uganda and Rwanda Wildlife Safari

Join our 13 Days Uganda and Rwanda safari to see the big five animals and also to  trek gorillas, chimpanzees and Golden monkeys. This 13 days Uganda and Rwanda safari starts from Entebbe and ends in Kigali. The trip takes you to visit some of the famous sites in both countries, including; Murchison Falls park, Kibale forest park, Bwindi park, Volcanoes park and Lake Kivu. Make use of the East African tourist visa to visit both countries, without worrying about the boarders.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Transfer to Murchison Falls park. 6 hours drive 

Early in the morning a driver guide from AA Safaris and tours ltd will pick you up from your overnight hotel and transfer you to Murchison falls. You will pass via the Luwero triangle where the 1980s NRM war was most serious. Spot the beautiful vegetation along the way. You will drive continue to Ziiwa Rhino sanctuary to see the rehabilitated Rhinos that were extinct. Before proceeding to Masinding for lunch. Hike to the top of the Nile and wander art the gorgeous site of the striking Murchison falls. Dinner and overnight at:

Day 2: Safari game drive / Boat ride along the Nile. 

Wake up early and head for a game drive. You will be able to see variety of animals like hartebeest, Uganda Kob, lions, waterbuck, buffalos, oribi, baboons the list is endless.  Enjoy the green vegetation that surrounds the banks of the river. Return to the lodge for breakfast and later lunch. Move down to the river for an interesting launch cruise along the nile.  You will be able to see beautiful avian life, animals like herds of elephants, buffalos, antelopes, a school of hippos, crocodiles and several other interesting animals. Come back to your lodge.

Day 3: Chimpanzee tracking safari 

Get up early for break fast and head to Budongo forest (known for a diversity of ecology) for chimp trekking.  View our closest relatives (800 chimps population) and see what you can learn from them. There are also more primates like the vervet monkeys, blue and red tailed monkey, potto, black and white colobus and baboons. You will also have a forest walk and get to see the numerous trees that the forest is endowed with. The guide will give you some of the scientific names and local names of some of these trees. Chimpanzee tracking is one of the most sought after activities in Uganda and there are short safaris like the 3 days chimpanzee safari that you can join.  Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at your booked accommodation.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale Forest . Long drive 7 to 8 hours 

After a hearty breakfast, drive to fort Portal passing via Masindi Hoima road. You will get there late in the evening and then have dinner and overnight at:

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking / Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park. 3 hours drive. 

Rise up early and take a warm cup of coffee/tea. Carrying your tracking gears, head to the starting point for for briefing from the guide. Move on to Kanyanchu to track chimps and other primates within the forest. Have a chance to compare and contract between the chimp’s behavior and humans and discover a lot!  Also check out the grey checked mangabey, L’Hoest monkey, red-tailed monkey and the vervet monkeys.  In the afternoon, drive to Queen Elizabeth national park (4 hrs). Enjoy a game drive in Mweya peninsula and find out for yourself the beauties surrounding Katwe town and its several saline crater lakes. Get to know about salt mining in the small towns. Day 6: Game drive \ Boat ride 

Rise up early in the morning and get ready to be part of an interesting game drive. On your drive you will get to prove that this park is a biosphere reserve for a number of wild species. Pass the Northern sector of the park and view a variety of animals that dwell in these premises. Some of these include warthogs, antelopes, elephants, water bucks, birds and several other species.  After an interesting game drive, have lunch. Later in the afternoon you will go for a boat ride along the Kazinga Channel. Overnight at previous lodge

13 Days Uganda and Rwanda safari Day 7: Transfer to Bwindi through the Ishasha sector. 5 hours drive 

After the fun in Queen Elizabeth, get ready to leave for Bwindi National park the home of the ancient dying out apes. Pass via the Ishasha sector. In this part of the park, you may get to see the tree climbing lions because they are common here. Carry on to Bwindi forest National Park. Dinner and overnight at

Day 8: Gorilla tracking in Bwindi. 

Get up early in the morning and prepare for the most memorable experience of the tour. Carry your tracking gears, drinking water and packed food move the ranger station. You will be briefed about the rules to follow while in the company of the gorillas. You will move into the thick dump and luxuriant forest. On the way, you will have the chance of meeting some monkeys, baboons, chimpanzees, birds that sing from the tree branches, and several other features.

You are recommended to wear long trousers because there may be stinging beetles. Hiking shoes are also important because the ground is always damp, quite boggy and slippery. When you get to meet them, you will be filled with excitement, stay with them for 1 hour taking there photographs and watching the young ones as they play from the vines. Day 9: Transfer to Rwanda volcanoes park . 4 hours drive 

Following the morning game drive, carry on to Rwanda a cross the boarder via Katuna. Drive to Parc National Des Volcans where you will have dinner and overnight at.

Moderate accommodation; Five volcanoes hotel.

Up market accommodation in Virunga Volcanoes Lodge / Sabinyo Silver back lodge.

Note; there are a number of activities that you can do this afternoon and some of these include; Visit thing the twin lakes and also visiting the Local communities.

Day 10: Golden monkey trek 

Wake up early in the morning for breakfast then move to the ORTPN for another briefing from the guide. Golden monkeys are the most endangered primates in the Volcanoes. Presently, it is believed that the only feasible population of these monkeys is left in the Virunga Volcanoes National park.  A small populace may exist in the Nyungwe Forest National Park in Southern Rwanda but this is yet to be confirmed. The golden monkey is a special species of guenon – Cercopithecus Kandti and is prevalent to the Albertine Rift. The golden monkey trek will take 2 to 4 hours. Later return for dinner and overnight at the lodge of your budget.

Day 11: Dian Fossey tombs trek. 

After your marvelous break fast, head to the Dian Fossey Trail where you will learn more about the American gorilla heroin. She spent the rest of her life studying and living amongst the gorillas. Her work came to the world map after the Film Gorillas in the mist. Very many people got interest in seeing these great apes and others formed groups like Friends of gorillas. You will walk and discover the products of her sweat. In the afternoon, head for a city tour where you will visit the Kigali genocide memorial, craft shops and several other interesting places.  Return for dinner and overnight at your booked accommodation.

Day 12: Drive to Lake Kivu ; 1 Hour drive 

After taking your warm tea and coffee, drive to Lake Kivu for a boat ride. You will be able to see a variety of birds that reside in this area, the vegetation that surrounds the lake and even the landing sites that are found on this lake. After your lunch, visit the Kigali Museum, Bisensero and the Murambi genocide memorials. Listen to the touching history behind these places. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 13: Drive to Kigali airport 2 and half hours drive 

Having enjoyed your trans- boarder tour, prepare for your home bound flight leaving Kigali Airport.
