Ishasha Wilderness Camp is a luxury lodge along the banks of river Ntungwe situated in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Hence the name of the lodge. It is located in a very quiet place which is mostly you’re interrupted by the sound of birds and the river flow making it one of the best places if you want some peace and quiet in the wilderness. Ishasha camp blends well with the surrounding wonders of the wilderness, it is a tented camp therefore rooms are built using mainly tents, then rein-enforced by with wood, timber and concrete in an effort to maintain the unspoilt and remoteness of the surrounding which is the park.

Rooms at the Wilderness Camp

Ishasha wilderness Camp  has got 10 stylish and spacious rooms. Each of these rooms is privately built on its own with a large private verandah that is overlooking Ntungwe river. All room are so comfortably furnished, they have either king size or Queen size beds depending on the type of room you’re sleeping in. Each bed has large mosquito-nets, all rooms have en-suite bathrooms with a wall shower and hot water flowing.

Common Area.

Comprised of grass thatched lounge, the bar area and the main dining space that is furnished with very comfortable seats to have meals from and relaxation. Sometimes meals are served from an open space with a clear view of Ntungwe river especially during good weather days. After an adventurous day in the park, you can spend some time around the camp fire.

 All meals served at the lodge are always fresh using locally obtained ingredients. The menu includes both international and local cuisines and incase of any dietary request, it is important to communicate early enough.   A fully stocked bar  with both local and imported brands of drinks to include beers, wines spirits and soft drinks are available. Drinks including hot and cold beverages, are readily available.

What to Expect when staying at Ishasha wilderness camp

A night’s stay at the wilderness camp will be rewarded by the beauty of Ishasha savannah sector of the park which is famous for its big population of the tree climbing lions. A safari game drive is the best way to see these beautiful creatures.  Carnivores are often seen resting on tree branches of mostly the fig trees. Sometimes, the animals especially the elephants and buffaloes are seen near river Ntungwe while at the lodge.  Other animals one might be able to see from the lodge include troops of different monkeys.  Most notably are the  Black-and-White Colobus and the vervet monkeys thus giving you the best wildlife experience .

Camp Prices and Rates.

Ishasha wilderness camp rates differ from one season to another.  For instance, the high season which is between Jan, Feb, July, Aug. Sept and Dec to the low season of April, May and November.
