Day 1, Kampala to Queen Elizabeth National Park, Kazinga Channel boat cruise

You will leave Kampala at around 6 am and begin the drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park in western Uganda. The journey takes about 6 hours, passing through towns, countryside, and changing landscapes on the way to one of Uganda’s most popular wildlife parks. On arrival, you will have lunch and later head out for a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel.

This boat cruise is one of the highlights of visiting Queen Elizabeth National Park. The Kazinga Channel attracts a high concentration of wildlife along its shores, giving you good chances to see hippos in the water, elephants and buffalo near the banks, warthogs, and a variety of birdlife. The cruise also offers excellent scenery and a relaxed introduction to the park’s wildlife experience. After the boat trip, continue to your lodge for dinner and an overnight stay. Accommodation options: Budget Pumba Safari Cottages, Mid-range Ihamba Safari Lodge or Marafiki Safari Lodge, Luxury Mweya Safari Lodge

Day 2, morning game drive in Queen Elizabeth National Park, return to Kampala

Wake up early for a morning game drive in the Park, the best time to search for wildlife when animals are often more active. Depending on the route your guide takes, you may spot lions, hyenas, elephants, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, and other species found across the park’s savannah plains. The early hours also offer better light for photography and more comfortable game-viewing conditions. After the game drive, return to the lodge for breakfast or enjoy your packed meal, depending on the day’s arrangement. Later, check out and begin the drive back to Kampala, stopping for lunch on the way. You will arrive later in the day, marking the end of your 2-Day Queen Elizabeth Safari.
