Detailed Itinerary
Day 1, Transfer from Kampala to Kibale National Park and Chimpanzee Trekking
At 6 am, after breakfast, depart Kampala and transfer to the Kibale National Park area near Fort Portal. The drive takes about 6 hours, arriving in time for lunch. After lunch, transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before chimpanzee trekking. The trek usually takes between 2 and 4 hours, so you should be back by about 4 pm. The walk through the forest is both scenic and informative, and once the chimpanzees are found, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them while observing their behaviour and taking photographs. Day 2, Transfer from Kibale to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, begin the 7-hour journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. On arrival, check into your lodge. Day 3, Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Today you will go gorilla trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. Gorilla trekking in Uganda takes place in either Bwindi or Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, but for this safari, you will be trekking in Bwindi. The actual trek starts at 8 am, although you need to be at the park headquarters by 7 am for a briefing and allocation of the gorilla family. Gorilla trekking usually takes between 2 and 8 hours, and once the gorillas are found, you will be allowed to spend 1 hour with them while observing and photographing them. After the trek, return to the starting point and transfer back to your lodge. Overnight at the previous lodge
Day 4, Return from Bwindi to Kampala
After breakfast, begin the drive back to Kampala. Along the way, you may stop at the Equator for photographs before continuing to Kampala, arriving before 4 pm. This marks the end of your 4-day chimpanzee and gorilla trekking safari
