The 3 days Kibale forest chimpanzee habituation safari takes you to spend a full entire day habituating the chimpanzees. The trek starts very early in the morning before sunrise and ends in the evening after the chimps make their nests to sleep in. During the day, you follow chimps and learn about their characteristics. This information is recorded for future use in preparation of chimps for the chimps trekking.
3 days Kibale forest chimpanzee habituation safari
Day 1: Transfer from Kampala to Kibale forest national park.
Set off early morning by 7am from Kampala after your breakfast and drive towards western Uganda to Kibale forest. Stopover in Fort-portal town, have lunch then after visit the tea plantations. You will later visit the Tooro palace for a cultural experience. Go for an evening nature walk if you wish and return for dinner and an overnight at Kibale Forest Camp-Lazy Camping (Budget) / Chimpanzee Guest House (Mid-range) / Primate Lodge (Luxury)
Early in the morning before sunrise and around 5:30 am, you will drive to transfer to the park headquarters for briefing. Through the forest, trek to the area where the chimps were last seen making nests and then start following them. Learn about their individual characteristics, group behaviour and also feeding habits. The activity takes the entire day and therefore, you will have to go with packed lunch and water. Overnight at previous lodge.
Day 3; Transfer back to Kampala.
After breakfast at your lodge, prepare and check out of the lodge for your journey back to Kampala. Stop for lunch on the way back and will reach Kampala in the evening and this will be the end of the 3 days Kibale forest chimpanzee habituation safari.
