Detailed Itinerary

Day 1, Transfer to Kibale Forest National Park 

After breakfast, depart Kampala at around 7 am and drive west towards Kibale Forest National Park. The journey takes you through changing landscapes, from central Uganda into the greener highlands of western Uganda. Stop in Fort Portal for lunch, then continue with a visit to nearby tea plantations, where you can enjoy views of the rolling hills and learn about tea growing in the region. Later, visit the Tooro Kingdom Palace for a cultural experience and insight into the Tooro Kingdom. In the evening, you may take an optional guided nature walk around the lodge area to spot birds and small primates. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Day 2, Full-day chimpanzee habituation experience in Kibale Forest

Wake up very early and transfer to the park headquarters for a briefing before sunrise, at around 5:30 am. After the briefing, enter the forest with researchers and guides to begin the chimpanzee habituation experience. You will trek to the area where the chimpanzees were last seen nesting and begin following them as they start their day. This experience allows you to spend extended time with the chimpanzees, observing feeding behaviour, movement, communication, and social interaction within the group. Unlike standard chimpanzee tracking, this activity lasts the entire day, from early morning until evening, when the chimpanzees build their nests again. You will carry a packed lunch and drinking water for the day. Return to your lodge in the evening for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Same lodge as Day 1.

Day 3, Return to Kampala via Fort Portal

After breakfast, check out of the lodge and begin your journey back to Kampala. Drive through Fort Portal and continue towards central Uganda, with a stop for lunch along the way. Arrive in Kampala in the evening, marking the end of your 3-day Kibale chimpanzee habituation safari.
