Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo Uganda

The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo, commonly known as POATE, is Uganda’s leading tourism and travel trade show. It is organised by the Uganda Tourism Board and brings together tour operators, safari companies, hotels, lodges, airlines, travel agents, hosted buyers, media, tourism boards, and other players in the tourism value chain. POATE gives Uganda a platform to promote gorilla trekking, wildlife safaris, cultural tours, adventure holidays, birding trips, community tourism, MICE travel, and other travel experiences to regional and international markets. For travellers, agents, and safari partners from the US, UK, Europe, and other global markets, POATE is an important event for discovering Uganda’s tourism products, meeting local operators, and building travel business partnerships.

What Is the Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo

The Pearl of Africa Tourism Expo is an annual tourism and travel trade show organised by Uganda Tourism Board. It brings together tourism value chain actors through business-to-business and business-to-consumer formats for networking, promotion, and travel business opportunities.

POATE 2026 Dates, Venue and Theme

The official POATE website states that POATE 2026 will be held from 21 to 23 May 2026 at the Commonwealth Resort, Munyonyo. Uganda Tourism Board also announced that POATE 2026 will take place at Speke Resort Munyonyo under the theme “Wanderlust, It’s Your Time to Thrive.”

Why POATE Matters for Uganda Tourism

POATE helps Uganda promote itself to international travel buyers, tour operators, media, and tourism partners. It supports networking, destination marketing, product visibility, and travel business growth. For safari companies, this event is important because it creates opportunities to showcase Uganda’s strongest travel experiences, including gorilla trekking, chimpanzee tracking, wildlife safaris, birding, cultural tours, adventure holidays, beach extensions, and community-based tourism.
