Detailed Itinerary
Day 1, Kampala to Fort Portal, Rubona Village beekeeping and farm experience
You will be picked up from Kampala in the morning and drive to Fort Portal, a journey of about 5 to 6 hours. Arrive in the afternoon and continue to Rubona Village, located along the Fort Portal to Kasese road. In Rubona, visit local farms where communities practice small-scale agriculture alongside beekeeping. You will learn how beehives are managed, how honey is harvested, and how products such as beeswax and propolis are obtained and used. You can also walk through nearby farms to see crops grown in the region and understand how apiaries are integrated into everyday farming systems. This gives a clearer view of how rural households combine crop farming and income-generating activities. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight. Accommodation: Mountains of the Moon Hotel.
Day 2, Kibale chimpanzee trekking, Tooro culture, local food experience
After breakfast, transfer to Kibale National Park headquarters for chimpanzee trekking. After a briefing, enter the forest to track chimpanzees. The activity takes about 3 to 4 hours, depending on their location. During the trek, you may also see other primates, forest birds, and learn about the ecosystem of Kibale. After the trek, return to the starting point and transfer for lunch. In the afternoon, continue to Tinka’s Homestead. Relax in the bandas and experience Tooro culture through storytelling and interaction with the local community. Later, take part in preparing a traditional meal and learn about local ingredients and cooking methods. Dinner and overnight at the homestead. Accommodation at Tinka’s Homestead.
Day 3, Bwigamiro countryside farm stay, cattle keeping and dairy experience
After breakfast, transfer to Bwigamiro Country Home in the countryside. Arrive, check in, and have lunch. In the afternoon, take part in farm activities focused on cattle keeping. You will learn how cows are managed, how grazing is organised, and how livestock contributes to rural livelihoods. Later in the evening, participate in traditional milking and learn how milk is handled and processed locally. Depending on the setup, you may also observe or take part in basic dairy practices such as preparing butter or other local by-products. This day gives a deeper understanding of livestock-based farming systems in western Uganda. Dinner and overnight at Bwigamiro Country Home
Day 4, Return to Kampala
After breakfast, begin the journey back to Kampala. The drive takes about 5 to 6 hours, arriving in the afternoon. This marks the end of your 4 days Uganda agriculture and chimpanzee safari
