Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Transfer to Kasese / Rwenzori mountains / Community Visit.

On arrival at your lodge, you will go for a community walk in Ruboni Community besides Rwenzori Mountains National Park in the evening and enjoy the storytellers telling tales of the Royal Kingdom and local folklore. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight at Equator Snow Lodge (Luxury) / Ihamba Safari Lodge (Mid-range) / Ruboni Community Camp (Budget)

Day 2: Hike the foothills of Rwenzori mountain.

In the morning after breakfast, you will go for a mountain hike with packed lunch. This could take about 4 hours or more depending on your fitness levels and interests. Return to the lodge for relaxation. Dinner and overnight at Equator Snow Lodge (Luxury) / Ihamba Safari Lodge (Mid-range) / Ruboni Community Camp (Budget)

Day 3: Visit Kikorongo cultural Centre | Transfer to Queen Elizabeth Park | Kalinzu Chimp Trek

After breakfast you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park. On the way you stop over at Kikorongo Cultural Center for a cultural performance. Later drive to proceed to Queen Elizabeth park. After lunch, transfer to Kalinzu for chimpanzee tracking where you will watch the chimps play, swing on the trees, feed and as well explore the underground forest.  Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Kyambura Game Lodge (Mid-range) / Simba Safari Camp (Budget)

Day 4; Lion tracking | Boat ride on Kazinga Channel |Visit crater lakes

Early morning after breakfast, you will meet the lion’s research team and go off road to track and monitor lions. You will monitor their behaviour and contribute to valuable research project. Have lunch, later take a 2 hours boat-ride along the Kazinga Channel. Time permitting, you can as well go for an optional crater Lake drive to the Baboon Cliffs. Watch the sunset over the park’s rolling hills.  Dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Kyambura Game Lodge (Mid-range) / Simba Safari Camp (Budget)

Day 5: Guided nature walk | Salt mines

You will go for a guided walk around Lake Kikorongo to watch the different bird species that inhabit this lake and the surrounding forest. Later in the afternoon after lunch, visit Katwe Salt Lake and learn about traditional salt mining, then continue for a short walk to Lake Munyenyange to see lesser flamingos (August-November) and other birdlife. You will also go to Katwe Tourism Information Center (KATIC) to pick up your guide then go for an evening game drive on the Channel track. Return to your lodge for dinner and overnight at Mweya Safari Lodge (Luxury) / Kyambura Game Lodge (Mid-range) / Simba Safari Camp (Budget)

Day 6: Game drive | Transfer back to Kampala. 

Early morning after breakfast, you will go for your morning game drive through the Kasenyi plains where you will see leopard, elephants, Uganda kobs, spotted hyenas, water bucks, bush bucks and other animals. Return to the lodge for lunch and later check out of the lodge, drive back to Kampala for your flight back home or stay at the hotel.
