Learn more about Uganda’s culture by joining this short 7 days Uganda cultural tour, visiting the eastern and northern region.  The trip takes you to visit the different groups of people, ranging from Basoga, Baganda and ending with the famous Karamajong’s of Uganda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Drive from Kampala to Jinja – Mbale

In the morning right after breakfast, you will drive to transfer to Jinja. The drive will take you 2 hrs. On arrival, you will go visit the source of the Nile and then go visit the Kings palace of Busoga. Learn  more about the culture and norms of the Basoga people plus their reigning king. Later in the afternoon, you can drive to proceed to Mbale.

Overnight

Basic :  Wash and Wills Hotel

Moderate – Mbale Resort / Protea Hotel.

Day 2: Transfer to Teso Region.

In the morning you will transfer to teso region to go visit, the Fishermens village and then later you will go visit the Nyero rock paintings. Later you till retire to your hotel.

Budget – Kumi Hotel

Moderate – 7 Eleven Hotel

Day 3: Transfer to Moroto.

At 7am, you will depart kampala to transfer to Moroto, the drive will take you 3 and half hours arriving in the afternoon.  You will have lunch and then later go visit the Karamoja museum and  Ateker Cultural centre. Later, you will go for an evening Walk in Moroto.

Overnight in Kara-Tunga Campsite  or tents.

Day 4: Mt Moroto and Tepeth tribe Hike.

This morning you will go hike Mt. Moroto  and also visit the Tepeth tribe  along the slopes of Mt Moroto. The Tepeth tribe have similar chacterictics and beliefs like the Masai of kenya. These people reside in conical mud and wattle huts.

Day 5: Cycling tour or Motor bike Tour of Karamoja region.

This morning you will go for a motorbike or Mountain bike tour in the region for better exploration of the local communities. Later in the afternoon, you will enjoy a cultural village ceremony, before you embark to your journey to go experience the Traditional cattle camp.  Camp at this ground.

Day 6: Drive and transfer to Sipi Falls.

At 9am, you will drive to transfer to Sipi falls in Mt Elgon national Park. Go for a nature walk in Sipi falls and then later relax. Later you will go visit the Sebei community and also experience the Sebei caves, to learn more about the Sebei culture. These are cultures and traditions that believe in female genital mutilation, but this is no-longer practiced. Later you will retire at your lodge. Overnight at

Basic- Sipi Bandas

Moderate- Sipi river lodge.

Day 7: Drive back to Kampala.

At 8am, you will drive to transfer back to Kampala. The drive will take 4 hours arriving in the afternoon. End of 7 days eastern and northern Uganda Cultural tour.
