Day 1, Kampala to Luwero, pineapple drying factory, farm harvest, tasting experience

At around 7:30 am, you will be picked up from your hotel in Kampala for a short meet and greet, followed by a briefing about the day’s agrotourism experience. At about 7:50 am, depart Kampala and drive to Luwero, arriving mid-morning. Begin the visit at Sulma Foods drying factory, where a guided tour takes you through how pineapples are dried without preservatives. Learn how fresh fruit is prepared, sliced, dried, packaged, and stored for local and export markets

After the factory visit, continue to a nearby pineapple farm. Walk through the plantation and learn how pineapples are grown, maintained, and harvested. You will take part in harvesting your own pineapple, which adds a practical, hands-on element to the experience. During the visit, you will also have the chance to taste fresh pineapple and compare it with dried products from the factory, giving a clearer understanding of the full value chain from farm to finished product. At around 1:30 pm, enjoy lunch at the Sulma gardens, prepared using locally sourced ingredients from the farm. This is a relaxed break that complements the farm experience.
