5 Days chimpanzees tracking and gorilla Safari

The 5 days chimp tracking gorilla safari, takes you to visit Bwindi and Kibale national park. The visit will allow you trek gorillas and chimpanzees. This is one of the unique trips that one who has seen other wildlife can consider doing. The trip can start from Kampala, Uganda or start from Kigali Rwanda.

Detailed Itinerary

Day 1 : Transfer to Kibale national Park. 

Today you will be picked up from your hotel in Kigali or Kampala at 7:30 to transfer  to Kibale national park.  If you are departing from Kampala the journey will take you through Mityana road and continue to Fort-Portal where you will stop for lunch and continue to the forest park arriving in the late afternoon.

Those departing from Kigali will drive through the boarder and on that note therefore, you will need  to obtain the East African tourists Visa to simplify your connection. On arrival at the lodge you will freshen up and later have dinner and overnight at Primate Lodge or Crater safari Lodge (Luxury) / Chimps Nest (Mid-range) / Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget)

After an early morning breakfast, you will transfer to the park offices for a short briefing about the dos and don’ts while in the forest and start the day off tracking chimps near Kanyanchu. This can take about 1-6 hours tracking depending on where the chimps are and other primates you will see include baboons, blue monkeys, white and black colobus monkeys, the golden monkeys, pottos, grey checked mangabey, L’Hoest monkeys, red colobus and other animals including the forest elephants unique from the common ones, striking tree species and giant forest hogs. Return to the lodge for lunch

After lunch you will go for a guided nature walk to Bigodi swamp sanctuary, a good site for birders. Abyssinian ground-thrush, Great Blue Turaco, Crowned eagle, Black-capped apalis, Papyrus Gonolek, African pitta can be seen among other bird 137 species as well as a series of butterfly species. Later return for dinner and overnight Primate Lodge or Crater safari Lodge (Luxury) / Chimps Nest (Mid-range) / Rwenzori View Guesthouse (Budget)

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi National park. 

Enjoy your early morning breakfast and prepare to set off for Bwindi impenetrable forest the home of gorillas and on arrival you will check in at the lodge, have lunch.  Later in the afternoon you will go for a cultural tour to visit the Batwa Pygmies. Visit Batwa pygmies’ handcraft shops whilst watch them perform their songs and dances. Go meet the traditional healer who treat the sick with medicinal plants.  Learn how bananas are used for juice making, beer and gin and much more.   Return in the evening to the lodge for dinner and overnight.  Gorilla Safari Lodge or Buhoma Lodge (Luxury) / Nshongi Gorilla Resort (Budget) / Nkuringo Gorilla Camp (Mid-range)

Day 4; Gorilla Safari / Gorilla trekking 

Early morning you will transfer to the park headquarters after your breakfast with packed lunch.  After a short briefing, transfer to the starting point and start tracking for the Mountain gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable forest. This trek could take about 2-6 hours in search for the gorillas and their families. After trekking for some time, for that reason you deserve to meet the gorillas. Watch them play, feed and care for the young ones.  Spend an hour with the gorillas after having trekked for that long.

Later in the afternoon, go visit the batwa community to learn more about their cultures and traditions. Later return for dinner and overnight; Gorilla Safari Lodge or Buhoma Lodge (Luxury) / Nshongi Gorilla Resort (Budget) / Nkuringo Gorilla Camp (Mid-range)

Day 5; Transfer back to Kampala or Kigali.  

Enjoy your morning breakfast and drive back to Kampala. Stop via Mbarara town for lunch and continue with your journey to the hotel or flight back home. End of 5 days chimp tracking gorilla safari!
