Detailed Itinerary

Day 1: Kigali – City tour. 

At 9am go visit the Kandt museum. After visiting the museum, you will go visit the genocide memorial and learn about this trying time of the Rwandans and Rwanda government. Visit the president’s palace, before ending the day with a visit to the craft centres’ and learn more about how these crafts are made and more about the communities that make these crafts.

Day 2;  Transfer to Nyanza- Visit King’s Palace 

Today at 8am, you will depart Kigali and then go visit the King’s Palace in Nyanza. Learn more about Rwanda monarchal system  before it was abolished in the 1960’s during colonialism.  Recreated using  local materials, the palace was built to showscase how kingdoms used to appear. You will also get an opportunity to see the long horned cattle. Later in the afternoon you will drive to proceed to the ethnographic museum, that houses Africa’s finest ethnographic collects.  Later you will drive to transfer to Nyungwe area. Overnight at

Day 3: Visit Tea factory /  Transfer to Gisenyi. 

At 8am, you will go visit the tea factory and learn more about tea growing in Rwanda. Pick, process and make tea from the lan of 1000 hills. Taste some of the best tea on the African continent. Later in the afternoon you will drive to transfer to Gisenyi. The drive will take you 4 and half hours arriving in the afternoon. Overnight at

Day 4:  Visit local Markets / Transfer to Musanze. 

Today you will go visit the hot springs and then for visit the local fishing markets to learn more about the cultures and traditions of people living at the shores of Lake Kivu. Later in the afternoon you will drive to transfer to Musanze near Volcanoes national park. Overnight at

Day 5: Iby’iwacu Community / Caves 

Today you will go visit the Iby’iwacu community to learn more about their beliefs traditions and culture. Learn how   to make local beer from bananas. In the afternoon, you will go visit the Caves and learn more about how through volcano eruption these caves were formed. They are believed to have ben formed over 65millions years back. In the evening you will go visit the twin lakes, and local communities close by. 

Day 6; Dian Fossey Tombs. / Transfer back to Kigali. 

Today you will go visit the Dian Fossey tombs and learn more about her conservation work she did with the Gorillas and more about her death.  Later you will drive to transfer to Kigali. On your way to Kigali you may visit the Churches fo Ntarama and Nyamata and also the millennium village to learn more about the reconciliation process for the past 20 years. Later you will drive to proceed to Kigali arriving in the evening.
